About the Surveyor
Daniel Wayne Cogburn, RPLS No. 6894
20+ Years of Experience
Born and raised in Texas, I grew up in De Leon before moving to Bruceville-Eddy in 2003 to attend Texas State Technical College, where I studied Land and Civil Surveying. Graduating in 2005, I immediately began my surveying career in Waco, Tx.
During my early years, I gained hands-on experience, starting as an Instrument Operator and steadily advancing through the ranks to Crew Chief and Senior Crew Chief. I furthered my education at Tarleton State University, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science with a business emphasis in 2020. Over time, I grew into leadership roles, including Field Crew Manager and Project Manager, eventually becoming a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS No. 6894) in June 2021.
My career continued to progress as I took on greater responsibility, ultimately serving as Survey Director for a national firm. After nearly two decades with the same core group of professionals, I made the decision to step out and build something of my own.
That decision led to the founding of Tasajillo Land Surveying, a company built on experience, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
On a personal note, I have been married to my wife, LeAnn, since 2010, we now have three beautiful children and one ugly one. (Just checking to see if you read this far. If you did, I hope you can appreciate my sense of humor.) Outside of surveying, I enjoy muscle cars and golf.
My Christian faith keeps me on the straight and narrow, guiding how I approach both business and relationships. A mentor of mine kept this quote from Buckminster Fuller on his desk: “Integrity is the essence of everything successful.” It stuck with me and remains a principle I carry forward as a foundation for this company.
I look forward to the opportunity to earn your trust and be a part of your next project.
